Transylvania County, NC – April, 2021 marks the one year anniversary of the first business Town Hall meeting to assess and discuss our local COVID-19 business response. Business owners, elected officials and community stakeholders are now invited to reconvene and participate in a special Transylvania Tomorrow Virtual Town Hall meeting scheduled for Tuesday, April 20th at 9:30 a.m. Tom Tveidt, Research Economist with Syneva Economics will serve as the keynote speaker. He will present findings, economic trends and vulnerabilities/strengths based on economic data captured specifically for the Transylvania County market.
Like the rest of the country Transylvania County has experienced a substantial shock to our local economy due to the pandemic. While our critical business leaders and policy makers continue to adjust and look for opportunities the Task Force wants to support these efforts by providing objective economic analysis. The analysis will examine the initial shock, rebound and perhaps more importantly what might be reasonable to forecast in future quarters. The Town Hall meeting will explore the employment impacts to specific business sectors, workforce effects and how these sectors and our rural community have performed relative to North Carolina and the rest of the United States.
During the live event participants will have the ability to submit questions. Participants are also encourage to submit questions directly to Josh Hallingse with the Transylvania Economic Alliance in advance of the Town Hall to aid in time management and ensure as much analysis as possible can be shared.
