Custom Tube Products, an advanced manufacturing company based in Edgewater, Florida will open a second facility in Rosman beginning this Fall. The move marks the first expansion for the company outside of their main facility. The business will occupy more than 20,000 square feet in an existing manufacturing facility located at 1989 Old Rosman Highway.
Custom Tube Products is owned by husband and wife team David and Elizabeth Love. The company manufacturers tube fabrications for a wide variety of sectors including: industrial machinery, aircraft, home health care, cryogenic storage, energy, scientific instruments, and transportation.
What began as a general machine shop and FAA Repair Station in 1987, has grown over the last 34 years to include a 22,000 square foot, fully climate controlled manufacturing facility and 30 team members who are leaders in the field of CNC & robotic bending, tube end forming, CNC machining, welding, brazing, precision cleaning and assembly.
Company President, David Love commented, “We are extremely excited to realize this vision and bring this North Carolina operation to life. We have a lot to do in the next few months to get the operation set up and a team in place. This expansion will give our entire company the ability to better meet growing customer needs and add much needed square footage and employee capacity to our business. The location in Transylvania County will allow us to service our growing customer base in the Carolinas, North Georgia, and South Carolina.”
Next steps for the company are to begin upfit of the space. Being a family-owned company, the business envisions the Transylvania County operation beginning small as the operation brings on a NC operations manager and builds and trains a core team. The company’s existing operation utilizes some of the most advanced machinery, robotics and technology and hopes to be able to attract skilled folks with some knowledge and interest in this field but also plans to partner with Blue Ridge Community College to help train new hires in the basics of advanced manufacturing, mechatronics and metallurgy as well.
“Custom Tube Products is a great opportunity for individuals looking for competitive wages, a team-work environment, and an opportunity to enter a field that has long term growth potential. Many of our current team have been with our company for many years. While employment is tight nationally, regionally and locally, we feel Transylvania County has hidden opportunities that many locations don’t have. Namely we feel some of the excellent manufacturing talent living in Transylvania County commutes regionally for work. We think we will be able to provide an opportunity to these folks to avoid that commute,” commented David Love.
According to Love, “the selection of Transylvania County for this second location can be traced back to our family’s love of the mountains. Given our primary business location is near the coast we have always gravitated towards spending time on family vacations in the mountains. We first visited Brevard and Transylvania County about 10 years ago. We absolutely loved the blend of lifestyle, authenticity, unique history and amenities this community offers. Being avid mountain bikers, we spend lots of time in DuPont State Recreational Forest and Pisgah National Forest. With unlimited outdoor activities and cultural opportunities such as the Brevard Music Center, we feel that the area offers an enticing combination for an ideal work-life balance.”
According to Amber Webb, Chair of the Transylvania Economic Alliance, “our organization first connected with David and Custom Tube Products while David was on an impromptu trip to Brevard for a mountain biking getaway while visiting a nearby customer. David called our office after riding his bike by the Sylvan Valley Industrial Center on the adjacent greenway. After touring the building now occupied by SylvanSport and Oskar Blues Brewery, David outlined his vision and interest in the community and the relationship developed from there. We often talk about target markets being advanced-niche manufacturing, food/beverage, outdoor industry, but often times it is more about attracting the right people.”
“We are so excited to welcome David, Elizabeth and the Custom Tube Products family to Transylvania County. The owner’s vision and appreciation for the community makes them a great fit. Their well-earned reputation in the advanced manufacturing sector will continue to grow our industrial base and give folks in Transylvania County more great career opportunities,” commented Jason Chappell, Chairman of the Transylvania County Board of Commissioners.
“We are so excited to see this project come to life,” commented Mayor Brian Shelton of the Town of Rosman. “Our Town is really excited to see one of the few remaining manufacturing buildings in Town come back to life with such a great company.”
